Sparrows and grackles
all drinking and splashing
in standing water
on a lush park lawn
alongside a seated
short-haired female
sporting a sky-blue tee
stenciled with light-blue
letters reading , "tired"
across her pubescent chest
overlayed with abraided
shirts of chambray
draped over long-worn
narrow-waled pants
gleefully rolling
and smoking a reefer
silently reciting
memorized childhood
verses of The Bible
cracking a smile
while jiggling skinny limbs
and pursing stiff upper lips.
